  • Christmas time

    Published 15/12/23

Christmas is nearly here and everyone at Ordsall has fully embraced the festive spirit! So far this month we have had two Christmas jumper days, the school is decorated with tinsel, lights and Christmas trees, and Nativities have been performed for parents. Everyone is very much looking forward to Christmas dinner day next week, Christmas parties, another Christmas Jumper Day and many more festive activities!

This week also saw some of our choir visit Retford Oaks for their Christmas Cabaret. It was such a lovely experience and it was great to see some past pupils of Ordsall performing.

Lastly, I'd like to wish a merry Christmas to all of our wonderful school community. Your ongoing support during the autumn term has been incredible and is greatly appreciated by everyone at school. I hope you all manage to have some special family time together over the festive break.

  • A week of celebrations

    Published 08/12/23

There has been lots to celebrate this week! Firstly, I am incredibly proud of our year 6 children who worked so hard to complete the Drug, Alcohol and Resilience Training (DAaRT) programme, with one of the children saying, 'We are the future'. Well done children!

Also, this week has seen our year 2 children perform their Nativity, A Twinkly Nativity, to their parents and families. The children were fantastic, with plenty of singing and dancing, and the odd joke thrown in too. Seeing the smiling faces on the audience's faces says it all. Great work everyone!

I feel incredibly proud this week after witnessing the immense kindness and generosity of our wonderful school community.

Working closely with the Nottinghamshire Fire Service, we have been collecting donations of toys and books in support of Women's Aid. When the fire service came to collect the donations, they were astounded by the number of items donated.

On behalf of everyone at Ordsall Primary School and the Nottinghamshire Fire Service, I would like to say a huge 'thank you' to everyone that supported this amazing cause.

  • Busy week

    Published 06/10/23

It has been a busy week at Ordsall with flu vaccinations and individual photographs taking place. On Tuesday, Reverand Alex visited school and shared an assembly with the children about Harvest and the importance of giving thanks. We also welcomed Bassetlaw Museum as they delivered workshops to our year 5 classes all about Anglo Saxons.

The school football team had their second match of the season on Thursday where they played out an entertaining 2-2 draw against Redlands Primary School. That is one win and one draw from the first two fixtures, so a positive start to the season - great work!

  • Residential fun

    Published 29/09/23

The children in year 5 have had an amazing (and tiring) week! Many of the children spent two nights away from home whilst on residential in Whitby, with half the year group going on Monday and Tuesday and the other half on Thursday and Friday. This was split with the entire year group meeting up in York on Wednesday.

The children had the opportunity to find out about York's Viking history, including a visit to Jorvik Viking Centre and DIG. Whilst there, they took part in different workshops, including digging for artefacts and learning about Viking weaponry.

Everyone had a fantastic time, and I was so proud of the many compliments received by members of the public for the children's brilliant behaviour. Well done everyone!
